The Staff at the lodge in Katmai
How It all Started
In 1984 a young 18 year old fishing guide named
Charlie Summerville graduated Sandy Creek High School, and with a
dream to go to Alaska and start his own guide service and $400 in
his pocket his epic journey began. Unfortunately along the way there
has been some collateral damage, although a starter wife who
wouldn't leave her moms side did not deter him for long, so Charlie
followed his dream and has never looked back. He did
eventually find a new loving wife who supported him and stood along
side of him with the same dream and moved to king Salmon Alaska to
start there business and family together. Helen and Charles have
been happily together for 17 years now and have 2 lovely daughters
Samantha and Stephanie who also play a important role in the
business and family atmosphere since they have grown up there in
Remote Alaska with a bunch of fishing guides as there surrogate
brothers and uncles. Starting out offering rafting trips and
wilderness out camps has let Charlie and Helen grow with the
business and build it along the way with some great guides and
former staff members.
While Charlie is busy with the guides and the day to
day fishing operations Helen handles all the reservations,
accounting and scheduling along with our separate Adventure Travel
company specializing in other wilderness add-on vacations while your
visiting Alaska. 2007 was our most successful year to date and we
continue to look forward to many more great years to come.

Our Business Philosophy
We have a very simple philosophy give our guest's the
best wilderness fishing vacation at a fair price. We have had to
raise our prices over the past 20 years to meet the business needs
and to continue to upgrade the facilities and equipment. As
things are a far cry from the early 90's when our fleet consisted of
2 rafts and 2 -16ft jet boats. Today we own & operate one of the
newest fleets of Jet boats with new Yamaha 4 stroke motors and New
Carolina Skiffs for the daily guiding along with 3 inboard jet boats
ranging from 21ft to 30ft for moving our guest's comfortably up and
down the river. Our fleet of boats alone is valued at over $250,000.
This shows our commitment to our clients that we will continue to
offer only the safest and best equipment available on the market.
Our Fishing Program
The fishing program is 2nd to none due to the fact
that Charlie started as a guide and continues to guide at least 3-4
days a week so he can keep a direct link with his guides and clients
daily fishing success. With a solid 23 years of guiding fisherman on
rivers in Katmai National Park and the Alaska Peninsula you are
assured of a great day of fishing in a great location. Our first
rate professionally licensed guides who are hand picked and trained
have all went through a very thorough guide school training process.
Our 8 guides have an average experience level of 6 years guiding
full time. While our management staff of Charlie Owner-Guide, Don
-Lodge Manager, and Moe -Operations Manager/Head Guide each have
over 15 years in the guiding industry.
