 Daily Camp Schedule

Our generator gets turned on at 6:30am a typical day consist's of waking up around 7am and being greeted at your door by a smiling hostess with a hot beverage  or Juice of your choice, after waking up and meandering over to the dining room around 7:30 and sitting down to a home cooked hot breakfast of freshly made Belgian waffles topped with whip cream and strawberries with a side of reindeer sausage, for the more healthy minded guest's we offer each morning full grain cereals, Oatmeal and bagels and a fruit tray set out in the dining room. You also have the option too sleep in as you are on vacation and there is no rushing around here and no crowded fishing to rush off to.and breakfast is at 7:30. During or after breakfast lunch supplies will be brought out for you to make your all you can eat deli lunch the way you would like it. The guides will be at the boats waiting at 8:00am for your day of fishing to begin.  Once you get on the boats they will give you a 5 minute safety speech and explain to you what you should expect during the day and how long of a boat ride it is till the start of fishing (usually not long at all!!). You will fish all morning then normally stop around 12pm for a half hour lunch break and rest from all the great fishing action.  You will return back to camp at 5:00pm unless otherwise stated. This is a good time to take showers or clean up before dinner. After dinner feel free to fish in front of camp or just relax. This will be the routine for the next week. Generator will be turned off around 10:00 pm depending on nightly activities.

Departing Camp

Day of departure, we ask that you get up and have your stuff packed and out of the cabins by * 9:00am.  Clients often pack the night before departure and set out clothes for the next day.  This will make it much easier for staff to clean and get ready for the next week’s group. If the weather is variable make sure to be dressed appropriately for the 30 minute shuttle rides down river to an awaiting float plane that will bring you back to King Salmon Airport to catch your afternoon flight home.  Envelopes will be supplied to each guest to place staff gratuities and customer satisfaction survey forms in. Before you depart please leave with the lodge manager. All gratuities are split evenly between all staff members from the kitchen staff to the guides.

Relax in Alaska Style No Stress !!

Think of your daily schedule now.  It probably consists of things like fighting traffic on your daily commute to work, cell phone calls, crowded hurried lunches, and a semi stressed life.  On your daily commute while staying on the Alagnak River at our lodge you will probably see more bears than humans, there is no chance for any cell phone calls because there is no service within 250 miles (but we do have satellite wireless internet), lunch consists of a shore lunch of fresh caught salmon or deli style packed lunches, and the only stress that you will have is on your rod hand and the graphite on your bent fishing rod.

We understand that you are on vacation and our number one goal is that you are having safe and enjoyable stay at the lodge. Below is a description of a typical day while visiting Katmai park.

When You Arrive Get On Alaska Time !!

When you arrive in camp you will be met by a hostess and taken to the dinning room to have a hot lunch.  At this time a meeting will be held to give direction on policies, safety, schedule, and introduction to all staff members.  Your bags will be transferred to your private river front cabin as assigned by the management staff.

Sundays are our change out days and there will be no guiding on that day. There is fishing on your own right at camp if you choose. We suggest that you focus on getting your gear ready, picking the guides brains for patterns/strategies, knots, and help rigging correct rods and reels for the following day.  Casting clinics and fly tying are available upon request.

On Sundays dinner will be around 5:00-5:30pm. After dinner you may relax around the fire in the dining room or go fishing in front of camp.  By 9:00pm a schedule will be posted with your guide for the following day.

If you have special dietary needs, sleeping arrangements, or other requests that may effect the schedule please make sure to let one of the staff know so we can take care of it.
