King Salmon Guides' Wilderness Float Trips
The Moraine River is another high alpine stream known for big, beautiful Rainbows. This river is a tributary of Kukaklek Lake in the Katmai Preserve, and well known to all the fly-out lodges in the Bristol Bay region. When floating down this very small waterway, you are exposed to miles of wadeable pools on the verge of overflowing with large Leopard Rainbows. You will be amazed at the large schools of spawning Sockeye which the Alaska Brown Bears are feasting on. While other anglers fly in and fish this small water daily, you will be fishing unpressured pools, well out of fly-in range. Camping amongst this breathtaking landscape, next to the large pools, is an angler's dream come true. King Salmon Guides strongly suggests that you use the Water Master raft for this trip. The versatile Water Master rafts will allow you to leapfrog from pool to pool as you float down the Moraine. Some say this is one of the top five Rainbow rivers in the world. We would have to agree. |
